Lets Talk OpenGolf
OpenGolf SA is a free-to-use web application designed for golf players. It provides a platform where golf enthusiasts can register, track their scores, and obtain a handicap without the need for formal affiliation with a golf course.
OpenGolf SA uses the World Handicap System (WHS) guidelines to calculate handicaps. The system considers factors such as your recent scores, the course rating, and the slope rating. The more rounds you play and submit, the more accurate your handicap becomes.
The course data on OpenGolf SA is collected from the South African Handicaps Network Africa (HNA) website.
Regrettably, we currently lack a method for collecting daily adjusted slopes. As a result, we update the course information whenever the South African HNA provides updates. Rest assured that we continuously monitor changes and keep our data as current as possible. Thank you for your understanding, and happy golfing! 🏌️‍♀️⛳

Yes! OpenGolf SA accommodates both 9-hole and 18-hole rounds. When submitting your score, indicate whether it's a full 18-hole round or just 9 holes. The system will adjust your handicap accordingly.
Unfortunately, while we strive to remain as accurate as possible, your OpenGolf SA handicap is not recognized by official tournaments where an official Handicaps Network Africa (HNA) handicap is required. These tournaments typically mandate handicaps issued by recognized golf associations. If you plan to participate in such tournaments, we recommend obtaining an HNA handicap through an affiliated golf club. Remember, OpenGolf SA provides a convenient way to track your progress and enjoy golfing, but for official competitions, an HNA handicap is essential. 🏌️‍♂️⛳
